Ah, Monday
Oct. 29th, 2001 12:50 pmNothing quite like getting to work and hearing that all of us are free to go to DC General Hospital today if we wish to pick up a prophylactic dose of antibiotics due to the anthrax situation.
This does not engender a lot of confidence in the situation. Actually, what it makes me want to do is go home and curl up on the sofa with a cat or two and just nap. :-/
Feh. I want a new government, one where they get their facts straight and actually respond in a meaningful way to a threat like this (and no, I don't necessarily think that the other party would be doing any better, not less than a year into the administration). Blech. I was okay with big things blowing up, but this anthrax mess is starting to irritate me.

Would that be a body cavity search? *thinking about the possibilities*
I want a new government ...
I suppose we should do something about anthrax, but watching the country going into convulsions over 3 deaths from anthrax is extremely annoying when I know more than 3 people, personally, who have died from AIDS. There is a vaccine for anthrax, there is a cure for anthrax, anthrax isn't at all contagious.
I'd like to see the government offer free condoms and safer sex lectures to every sexually active adult, free needle exchanges for IV drug users, and free medical treatment for everybody with HIV. Not to mention emergency medical aid to those poor countries overseas where AIDS has become the leading cause of death.
