Remember PSAs?
Feb. 16th, 2022 06:20 pmThe husband and I no longer watch network television, or local news, so I don't know if they still play the Public Service Announcements (PSAs) that tell you to replace your fire alarm batteries when the time changes. If they don't, they should.
Around 12:45am last evening the fire alarm outside our bedroom started chirping and loudly declaring that the battery was low. Repeatedly. Went out to look at it, went down a floor to grab my step stool, brought that back up and tried it, no go, too short with the high ceilings. So I threw on some clothes, went down two floors to the garage to grab the ladder, hauled it up the two floors, pulled the damned chirpy thing down, carried it back down two floors to where the batteries are, walked up a floor to where the trash can is, replaced the batteries, was told by the device to hit the 'test' button. Did so and got an earful of very loud fire and carbon monoxide alarms in rapid order, then it settled down to a nice steady green light. Walked back up a floor, replaced the unit. Carried the ladder back down two floors to the garage, then came back upstairs, gave the alarm the stink eye and a couple hand gestures and went back to bed.
Needless to say, I was a little off today at work. Oh, and I had an 8am call with another agency, including staff of theirs from the other side of the planet. And the husband had to leave early for an interview. Whee! I did take a quick half hour or so nap after my last scheduled meeting, then popped back on to finish up a few things for work and finalize the setup of the new laptop.
What a night.
