Where to

Forgot one last thing, cancelling the "condo" homeowners insurance on the cult co-op unit, so handled that on Friday, now just waiting for the refund to come through (supposedly as a credit back to the card used to pay it in the first place back in January, which is fine as that's my main daily use card).

As annoying as the building list serve was for the cult co-op, I do wish we had something similar for the new HOA we're now in. The NextDoor app is fun to see what crazy shit people will post (seriously, people are nuts, but it's fun 'get out your popcorn and watch' on occasion), but it's not specific to the HOA, nor even just the city we now live in. Eh, they get the snow removed, the 'yard' maintained, and the trash and recycling picked up, so I'm good for the most part. I did take a page from [livejournal.com profile] susandennis this year and paid the entire year's worth of HOA dues at once. The management company has a ridiculous set up where they want some outrageous percentage to pay it online, and of course the mail difficulties earlier this year delayed the first payment, so they were threatening late fees, and I just said "fuck it" and sent a check for the rest of the year. Yeah, the time value of money might not make that worth it (though does it really at current interest rates?), but the psychic value of knowing it's done and over with until January was well worth it.

The husband is doing some stuff for school today/tomorrow, so I shall most likely spend the days killing things in various vidja gaymes. At least the recent heat wave has broken, so it won't be quite as bad outside, though I did enjoy the big thunderstorms all this past week.

Some last emails came through from the cult co-op app this morning (including one cancelling the reservation for the loading dock for move in later this month - I want to know more! but really I don't), then the app gave me the "you don't belong here" error message mid-day, so I deleted it, and the associated bookmark for the web site from my computer's browser. The check from the settlement company arrived and was promptly deposited through the bank's app. I checked the former mortgage company and got the best message screen stating that "this loan is inactive". So done, and done, and done. Hallelujah.

Closing

I did my part for the apartment closing yesterday - signing all of the papers, and handing over the keys and fobs (save the copy in the realtor lock box that they needed for the last walk through). Took all of ten minutes, then I wandered over to Whole Paycheck for an oddity I couldn't find at the normal grocery store, then home. The buyer is doing her closing appointment today, after which it is all hers. My agent is supposed to text me to let me know it's done.

So of course the cult co-op called me this morning to schedule the replacement of some floor tiles that I'd reported as damaged (which is on the co-op to fix, since it's the original floors). Ha! I told them it was open and vacant, and that the new owner was supposed to move in on the 21st, so any time they wanted to come in before then would be great.

A few more hours, and I no longer have to worry about it.

Not a ton going on right now. We did make a last minute decision to get out of the house and see Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins, which was more fun and slightly less cheesy than I expected. Two thumbs up for summer action. I will say the worst part of the movie was the wigs they put on Scarlet and the Baroness. Not like, "go back to Party City where you belong" level, but not good. Watching so much of RuPaul's Drag Race has definitely spoiled my ability to watch bad wigs (see, e.g., Jupiter's Legacy on Netflix - those wigs were a crime, and incredibly distracting they were so bad).

One more week until closing. I look forward to no longer being on the email list for all of the "does anyone have a parking space" and "OMG, I can't believe someone let their dog pee on the lawn that we just spent so much money to redo" emails from other cult co-op members. The biggest controversy so far at the new place has been the inability of the trash contractors to show up on Mondays for the last week, so the property manager renegotiated them from M/Th to Tu/F. But recycling still only comes on Wednesdays, which I don't get because our recycling bin is always packed to the gills, but we rarely have more than one small trash bag a week. *shrug* Yay suburban life.

Waiting for the front desk to hurry up and log a package that you know was delivered a couple hours ago is just the worst.
