The old ad blocker I used died in the latest MacOS update, and I'm not terribly happy with the other ones I've tried so far, mainly because now LJ keeps rebooting over, and over, and over, unless I get in quickly and hit the little X to prevent it from doing so after the initial load up. Or maybe it's the "make Safari stop being stupid" extension I added to keep Safari from auto hitting "enter" when it enters a saved password, because literally no one wanted that feature. Or the russians just hate me. Whatever.

In happy news, my shoulder doesn't need surgery. Diagnosed a sprain, I'm being sent to PT, and put on mega-doses of ibuprofen. I'll start the PT next week. Was supposed to start today, but instead I got to sit in an impeachment-related meeting with the lawyers in my agency. Nothing for us to do right now, but prepping the (political) general counsel in case something comes us.

And in the meantime, I'm prepping materials to apply for a new job, with a tiny agency whose enter general counsel's office is the size of my current section of my agency's GC office. It would be non-supervisory, I'd get to go back to money law, and it's on a different pay scale so I could get paid more than I do now. I'd have to metro out of DC, but the reverse commute shouldn't be bad. One of my former colleagues from my current agency reached out and let me know about the vacancy, so I said hey, why the hell not. To be honest, I would not mind going back to money law, and I definitely wouldn't mind getting out of a position where I have to deal with things like impeachment related meetings.

The one downside to going back to money law is I would not get to do what I'm doing tomorrow for the third time in my federal career, which is actually taking my birthday off. That's kind of hard to do when it's the third day of the federal fiscal year, and there's usually a crisis of some sort around it. But I'm taking the next two days off and not looking back. I actually wrote "Ran away; might return" on our sign out board before I left work this evening. ;)
