Since we moved I've been using an old IKEA Norden gateleg table as the desk in my office - one of the leaves extended to have enough surface area, with a Vari stand up desk riser to hold my work laptop and accessories. I put some furniture movers under the main legs and would wrestle the table back and forth between two positions - one that left more floor space open but left me with a closet door as my camera background, and one that took up all the space, but left me with a nice bookshelf as the camera background. It worked, but it was clunky.

I'd looked at replacement options off and on, mostly off because of the ongoing supply issues (everyone needed desks suddenly!), but finally started looking seriously at options this past week, and picked a winner, which arrived this afternoon. It's enough table top to hold the riser if need be (though it doesn't need to because it's an adjustable height model), and most importantly it's on wheels so I can roll it around as the mood strikes. And without the riser it's big enough to hold both the work and personal laptops, which it's doing as I type this entry. Whee! Much less space taken up, better use of the office space, and no clunky table to slide around. Definitely makes a difference.

We're reaching out to contractors to get some things around the apartment fixed up so we can get it into shape to sell. The virus has made clear that now that we're both working from home on a regular basis, a one bedroom apartment is no longer cutting it. Since I switched jobs I'm commuting anyway, and while he likes still being able to walk to work himself, I think he's at the point where the need for space now outweighs the convenience.

So, fix things up, talk to my credit union, and prepare to sell and move on to the next place, wherever that may be.
