I left this as a comment elsewhere:

My small gubm'nt agency keeps moving the goal posts [for returning to the office] out as well. Executives were supposed to be 'on campus' 2-3 days a week starting this week, and that got delayed again because of omicron. I really wish the powers that be would stop focusing on "getting back to normal", as if we'll ever return to pre-pandemic work patterns, focus on what's working now, and then plan for adapting once we have some better handle on what this disease (and future diseases) will force on us long term.

Last day?

Other than zipping out in the middle of the day to get comic books and a haircut, today has been all about editing government shutdown documents, and answering legal questions about the same. It took them until early evening, but the Congresscritters over on the Hill finally got their Act(s) together this evening and passed another short term extension through Sunday, so they can finalize the larger, full-year appropriations. So, crisis averted at the 11th hour, but now they have to finish the larger work.

So I was monitoring my work phone and leaving the work laptop up and running earlier this evening. Which I suspected would happen, so there was zero guilt over running errands in the middle of the day (plus it got us out of the housekeeper's hair while she cleaned). Plus if I had to look at my lack of haircut in one more video call I think I might have screamed (on mute, of course). I even fielded a call from my old agency, which was good because it was from a colleague who lives here in Hyattsville, so I was able to ask her for a vet recommendation at the end of the call.

We're trying to figure out how we want to spend our Christmas. Each prior year since we started dating was spent with his family, and since that's not happening, we're at something of a loss. There are several movies coming out that day, so I suspect we'll spend some good time doing that. I'm ridiculously excited about Wonder Woman 84, because she's my absolute favorite super hero, hands down, and Patty Jenkins has done an excellent job translating her to the screen. Beyond that? Who knows.

Ran!

It was a short run, less than 14 minutes, about a mile and a quarter, but I did it, without foot pain from the plantar issues. The feet did okay during the day, too, so I think I'm finally getting over that and getting back to normal. I've been aggressively treating it of late, with the best thing being an exercise and mild foot massage before I even leave the bed in the morning.

And of course my fitness tracker died right after the run (not the GPS running watch, but the step tracker, a vivofit 4). I ordered new batteries, but as usual the GPS Amazon gives their delivery people doesn't work for shit - it tries to send them to my exact apartment, rather than my street address (and they're too dumb to actually read the address?), so it sends them in circles around the back side of the property with no way to get in, rather than just coming to our front gate. Uber uses the same GPS system, but it allows you to change the pick up spot. It's very frustrating, because of course I've given them this information, but there's no indication whether they're going to attempt redelivery or not.
