Boss watch, Thursday

Gotta love it when you have to catch your boss coming and going to brief her on stuff ("I'm headed in to see The Big Boss now - obviously I won't talk with her about X, but I'll get you on my way back and you can let me know what's up."). :)

I swear, the more I stay here and the more I see what commitment (time, energy) would be needed to be a supervisor, the more I just want to get my nice little 15 in my current specialist position and just stay there. 15s make good money (6 figures), so it's not like "only" staying at a 15 as opposed to going to SES would be a burden (there's only a $4k difference between a 15/01 and the bottom level SES person).

This whole "having a life" thing is kinda nice, ya know?

Master Plan

I just told a coworker that the white athletic shoes I'm wearing today (with khakis, a dress shirt, no tie, and a sports coat) are part of my master plan to "casual down" my outfits at work and let people get used to the progression gradually so that eventually I can come in wearing sandals, shorts and madras shirts and no one will think anything of it.

It took her a few moments of bug-eyed staring before I lost the straight face and started laughing.

New toys

The one problem with getting a new cell phone is transferring all the numbers over. Ugh.

But, the new phone came in today, so I set up up, called T-Mobile to get the number porting stuff started (buh-bye, AT&T, you were just too expensive for too few features), and then sat down to input numbers into the phone. Too a couple hours (oy!), and lots of deleting off the old phone, but is done. Hopefully the number will port over soon and I'll be fully in business. Until then, I get to carry both phones around. :-p
