Mornin'

A lovely morning here in DC. There's a bit of haze, and some splotches of fog lying over the park. The temp's not too bad, as I just learned when Miss Natasha fairly demanded to be let out on the balcony to roll around on the concrete. Silly kitten.

So, packing my stuff this morning to bike down to Hains Point (Hain's Point? I can't find a definitive answer as to whether there is or is not an apostophre there) and go embarass myself swim. Given that I'm hosting [livejournal.com profile] discord35 this evening after his event I'll likely not go running with the Front Runners tomorrow morning, but I think I might want to make this my normal weekend mornings - swim Saturday, run Sunday, and do so with groups who'll keep me going. Exercise has typically been a solo activity for me; I value the time alone on the running trails; but I think it's time to explore other options. Good old externally motivated me needs a) a plan and b) reinforcement of that plan. And if participating with some groups would help further my triathlon goals, I'm for it.

Nice swim this morning. I'm definitely nowhere near that level yet, but I think it'll be a good group with which to get involved.

The pool itself was HUGE compared to what I'm used to swimming (50 meters versus 25 meters), but did about 800 meters all told, I think. Maybe more, but not much more.

Biked down there, and had to put air in the back tire once. Got out from the swim, and the tire was flat as the proverbial pancake. So, off to City Bikes to get it replaced (since, for once, I had neglected to bring my kit for replacing it myself). On the way across 395 I ran into [livejournal.com profile] heterodoxy and we chatted briefly. The trip up was made easier by a ride on Metrorail.

Now I'm at Tryst, finally getting my coffee and enjoying the free wireless network while I wait for [livejournal.com profile] claddah76 to show up for lunch. Fun day so far. :-)

Down

Thought about going out, decided against it.

Napped for a couple of hours this afternoon, post shower (the third of the day - one getting up, one after swimming, and one after biking around). Made a simple pasta dinner, watched the rest of the 2nd Matrix movie from the other night, putzed. Read some earlier (pre-nap), chatted online some (post-nap), generally just not motivated to do much of anything. Going out would be a waste of time at this point; my heart just isn't in it.

I reiterate once again:

I. Should. Not. Be. Left. Alone.

It's a dangerous thing.

Thankfully, tonight, I'm not acting on it (i.e., not hooking up online or heading out to look off-line), and will get some sleep and go running in the morning instead, but the impulse was there earlier. Boredom (mixed with a bit of depression?) is a bad, bad thing for me. But tonight, I'm headed to sleep; I'd rather run in the morning, anyway.

Your entire lifestyle is relevant to your progress as a triathlete.
