Literally. The husband took off for the day to hang out with friends, and had made some noises about how "crowded" he felt the main level was getting, so I dug into a few things down there to straighten them up before he had a chance to put things "away" in places I'd never find them later.

Then I culled T-shirts and other clothes in our dressers. Removed each drawer and tightened the screws on the rails. Moved on to my office, tossing papers that we no longer need, like old bills that we needed to prove residency when we first moved in, and filing away tax stuff. Found the cats' file just in time for their next vet appointment in two weeks. Between the stuff I couldn't donate from the bedroom, and the papers from the office I filled a small garbage bag.

Did other things in between, like eat, and do my daily run at Animal Crossing, but mostly I've been organizing and cleaning all day. The dust hasn't been fun, but making sure the drawers in the bedroom can open without jamming, either from being overstuffed with clothes or loose rails, was worth it.

Other than that life has been busy at work for both of us. After two days of gross we've both recovered well from the vaccinations, though I still have a fairly prominent red spot from the monkeypox shot. The husband got a new tattoo from an old tattooer. We discovered the guy who did most of his left arm has a studio within walking distance of our townhouse. I've given him an idea for another one for myself as well, and we'll see what he comes back with, design-wise.

The husband got it in his system to go out and clean out the garage. We weren't too bad about dumping things in there when we moved in, but it had of course accumulated some things, and other things had been placed in there post-move last year, and it needed some editing. So we spent a couple hours rearranging Xmas decorations, and cataloging lego sets, and designating a car load of stuff as donations. Checked and Goodwill was still open when we were done, so loaded up the car and got rid of it all. Done and done. Not a bad way to spend the early afternoon.

Now he's attempting to put one of our largest lego sets back together for display. It was lightly separated so it could be moved, and hopefully it won't take too much to reassemble it (unlike my poor Mini cooper set, which will need to be completely unassembled before I can put it back together).

Did find a nice web site and app to catalog the lego sets. Mostly so we know which holiday sets we have, as those tend to repeat a bit more than the regular ones, which get retired regularly. We have ... a lot of legos in the house. And a lot in the garage. I wouldn't say it's a problem, but it is a lot.

Gaming

As I said to a friend today, there's only so much time I can spend in Animal Crossing. I enjoy the game, though sometimes the 'gotta check in daily' part gets old. I've scrapped all of the mobile games I had going, save a nonogram one I've been playing on my iPad mini for forever, and the NY Times crossword (mostly the minis, occasionally the big one if the mood strikes). I looked around in various game store today, and while there are a couple coming out that I've put on the Xmas wish list, there's really not a lot out there that's exciting me (that I don't already have). I find myself drawn to cuter, slower-paced things more than the drag-you-in-for-hundreds-of-hours mega-sagas.

So, quiet day today. I cleaned out some more things that had been tossed under a bathroom sink when we moved in, putting some out, tossing some that were dead or wouldn't be used. Made popcorn on the stove (1/2 cup oil, 1/3 cup corn, medium heat in a dutch oven with the lid slightly askew so it can vent [or cheat like I do and use a different lid that has venting holes]; shake it occasionally until it's done popping, toss it all in a bowl with 1/4 to 1/2 tsp salt [no more than 1/2 tsp; that's almost too much for me and I'm a salt-a-holic], enjoy). And played a lot of video games. The female cat would've preferred if I had read so she could have had my legs as a bed, but she curled up next to me anyway.

I think the husband and I finally hit our respective limits in terms of the lack of activity. I had tweaked my hip flexors, which led to some lower back pain, but that's finally resolved and I'm back to running. He had gotten tired of getting ugly looks from the local gendarmes when he took a morning walk, so he had stopped those, but I think he's ready to start some form of them back up again. We're probably both deal with quarantine fatigue, but are also committed to staying in as much as possible. A weekly grocery run and an occasional bit of take out have been it for us otherwise.

Today I'm straightening up for our cleaning person to come over tomorrow. It'll be the first time since the whole mess began, and I think she's feeling as stir crazy as we are, based on her texts today.

Other than that it's business as usual here. I did start playing Death Stranding last night, which is some messed up Japanese weirdness. Kojima definitely did what he was trying to do - create a different form of gaming. It doesn't neatly fit any of the current forms, and the game play is fun for having to figure that out. Around dealing with the aforementioned weirdness. Going between that and Animal Crossing is a bit of a mind fuck, honestly. Dark and broody to cute and perky.
