The husband got it in his system to go out and clean out the garage. We weren't too bad about dumping things in there when we moved in, but it had of course accumulated some things, and other things had been placed in there post-move last year, and it needed some editing. So we spent a couple hours rearranging Xmas decorations, and cataloging lego sets, and designating a car load of stuff as donations. Checked and Goodwill was still open when we were done, so loaded up the car and got rid of it all. Done and done. Not a bad way to spend the early afternoon.

Now he's attempting to put one of our largest lego sets back together for display. It was lightly separated so it could be moved, and hopefully it won't take too much to reassemble it (unlike my poor Mini cooper set, which will need to be completely unassembled before I can put it back together).

Did find a nice web site and app to catalog the lego sets. Mostly so we know which holiday sets we have, as those tend to repeat a bit more than the regular ones, which get retired regularly. We have ... a lot of legos in the house. And a lot in the garage. I wouldn't say it's a problem, but it is a lot.

Snapped a picture of Carl, and of the Lego Bonsai tree I mentioned the other day.

Placed behind an LJ cut, of course )

I'll get some pictures tomorrow when we have better light, but I made the Lego Bonzai Tree for my office this afternoon. Pink blossoms for spring, naturally. They did a good job with the set, and with the changeable leaves - you just pull off four things and swap in the other leaf set, and done (both sets of leaves are made and ready to swap). Very fun. And they had some kicking pictures of different custom leaf sets that other creators made using the tree base. Quite fun. Fits nicely on the bookshelf, though I think I'm going to rearrange some things tomorrow so it's more prominent while on video calls.

That's one thing that has surprised me about this past year, how much I think about video calling. Mind you, I'm not a fan of either phone or video calls - I'd much rather see someone in person - but that's the way that work is going, at least for me and my agency. So I've been rearranging my shelves in my office to be more video friendly. There are still toys and geeky stuff, this is my office after all, but I'm trying to edit it to look good and not be too distracting. And I definitely prefer shorter hair for myself, and darker, thicker glasses frames. I have both a pair of thin frames, and a pair of thick ones, and I think the thick ones just look better on video. So that'll probably affect how I pick out frames going forward, how they look on video for work. Whee.
